■ The plant recycles waste wood, activated carbon, polystyrene, waste sulfuric acid, waste IPA, and empty 1-gallon plastic and glass drums. In 2024, 751.99 metric tons of waste generated from on-site activities were recycled, accounting for approximately 90% of the total waste. ■ In 2024, Xsense Technology Corp, INC. commissioned a recycling agency to collect empty chemical drums produced on-site. The recycling agency then reuses this waste through a standard recycling program.
Taiwan Mask Group outsources all waste disposal to qualified external treatment plants, without any in-house processing. Treatment methods include reuse, recycling, and incineration. In 2024, the total waste volume was 1,065.42 metric tons, of which 310.21 metric tons were non-hazardous waste and 755.21 metric tons were hazardous waste. Of this, 294.76 metric tons were incinerated, 751.99 metric tons were reused, and the remaining 18.67 metric tons were treated in other ways. Reuse accounted for 71% of the total waste volume in 2024, highlighting the effectiveness of Taiwan Mask Group's proactive collection and treatment of recyclable resources.
Taiwan Mask Group, aiming for "process reduction and resource recycling," began recycling waste sulfuric acid from its wet-processing equipment in 2024. This reduced the amount of alkali added to the wastewater system and prevented the discharge of waste sulfuric acid into the system, thus avoiding increased system load. Xsense Technology Corp, INC. recycled waste activated carbon, transporting it to a legal recycling plant for regeneration and activation. Empty chemical containers were also recycled and processed at a legal recycling plant, where they were crushed and cleaned to produce recycled plastic scrap. In total, Taiwan Mask Group reduced waste generation by 723.71 metric tons in 2024. Furthermore, Taiwan Mask Group plans to gradually replace its shock-absorbing materials (polystyrene, EPS cushioning granules, etc.), reusing polystyrene to produce plastic granules for protection, thus reducing the massive amount of waste generated by original packaging materials through packaging material recycling. The company aims to maximize resource utilization efficiency by finding technologies that reduce, recycle, and reuse waste. ■ Waste Sulfuric Acid Recycling: Waste sulfuric acid is recycled from the factory area and transported to a treatment plant for dilution into 50% industrial-grade sulfuric acid, which is then sold as a wastewater treatment agent and industrial reagent. Waste reduction: 721.95 metric tons. ■ Empty Chemical Drum Recycling: Empty chemical drums are recycled to a legal recycling plant, where they are crushed and cleaned to produce plastic scrap. Waste reduction: 0.87 metric tons. ■ Waste Activated Carbon Recycling: Waste activated carbon is transported by dedicated vehicle to a legal recycling plant, where it is regenerated and activated to produce recycled carbon. Waste reduction: 0.89 metric tons.
